 Comprehensive Hair Loss Solutions

Hair loss, or alopecia, encompasses a range of conditions characterized by the partial or complete loss of hair. At our Hair Loss NYC Treatment Center, we offer an extensive array of solutions, meticulously designed to address both male and female hair loss with precision and expertise. We are open seven days a week, ensuring that our services are available when you need them most.

 Understanding Hair Loss

Hair loss can manifest in various forms, from gradual thinning to sudden shedding. On average, an individual loses approximately 100 hairs per day, given that the scalp contains around 100,000 hairs. Each hair follicle has a lifecycle of approximately 4.5 years, during which it grows about half an inch per month before shedding and being replaced. Genetic baldness, however, is attributed to the body’s diminished capacity to produce new hairs rather than excessive hair loss.

 Male and Female Pattern Baldness

Male pattern baldness, or androgenetic alopecia, is predominantly hereditary and often linked to sensitivity to male hormones such as testosterone. This condition typically begins with a receding hairline and thinning crown, eventually leading to bald spots. Statistically, approximately 25% of men experience this form of baldness by age 30, with around two-thirds affected by age 60. Men with insufficient testosterone levels do not develop this pattern, underscoring the hormone’s role in the condition.

In contrast, female pattern baldness generally involves diffuse thinning across the scalp, with the frontal hairline remaining intact. Women can experience hair loss due to genetic predisposition, hormonal changes, or aging, with symptoms often becoming more pronounced after menopause.

Innovative Treatment with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

As pioneers in Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, our Hair Loss NYC Treatment Center has consistently delivered exceptional results for patients seeking non-surgical interventions. PRP therapy involves using a patient’s own blood platelets to stimulate hair growth. Platelets are rich in growth factors and proteins that enhance circulation to hair follicles, fostering new hair production.

 PRP Therapy Procedure

The PRP treatment process begins with the collection of 54 milliliters of the patient's blood, which is then combined with an anticoagulant. The blood is centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other components. The scalp is prepared with a sterilizing solution, and the concentrated PRP, about 11 milliliters, is injected into the scalp at a depth of 4 millimeters using specialized syringes. Visible results typically manifest within four months.

Mechanism and Benefits of PRP Therapy

PRP therapy accelerates hair follicle regeneration by increasing the platelet count in targeted areas. The growth factors in PRP enhance the scalp’s ability to produce healthier, denser hair follicles. This treatment is effective for reversing hair thinning, improving hair density, and supporting healing during hair restoration procedures.

 Administration and Frequency

The PRP procedure usually lasts between one and one-and-a-half hours. The frequency of treatments depends on the extent of hair loss, with some patients requiring multiple sessions to achieve optimal results.

 Holistic Approach to Hair Loss

At Park Avenue Dermatology, we adopt a holistic approach to treating hair loss. Our comprehensive evaluations include a thorough medical history, scalp examination, and, if necessary, diagnostic tests such as microscopic analysis or skin biopsies. We address potential underlying causes, including hormonal imbalances, medication side effects, and lifestyle factors.
